Frequently Asked Questions

  • IS THIS BEEF USDA-CERTIFIED?
Yes, everything we sell is USDA certified!
  • HOW DO I PICK UP MY ORDER?
You pick up your order directly from us at Bengis Creek Land & Cattle Co. at our farm in Sylvania, AL or at our distributor, White Peake Market, in Woodville, AL during scheduled pick-up hours. Call for addresses. - 256-605-9523
  • HOW LONG CAN I KEEP THE MEAT IN MY FREEZER BEFORE IT GOES BAD?
Your beef can last 26 months or longer in the freezer, if it is properly handled and remains frozen.
  • WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT FOR MY ORDER?
Because you are getting fresh meat, direct from the farm. There is a process to get a cow from the farm to the processor and back takes time. The beef is also “aged” while it is hanging in cold storage to ensure we get the best flavor. Ageing makes a big difference in taste.
  • HOW MUCH MEAT WILL I GET FOR 1/2 A COW?
Generally, a cow will weight around 1,000 lb when going to the butcher. After the butcher has removed portions of cow that will not be turned into cuts, the hanging weight is determined. This will be about 60% of the starting weight. Then the meat is aged and then cut. The end amount will be around 40% or your starting weight.
  • WHERE DO THE COWS COME FROM?
We raise them on our farm pastures in Sylvania, AL.
